Starting Off Right
Any equipment purchase has three important components:
- the long-term goals of the client;
- the machinery supplier;
- and the tooling supplier.
While it seems obvious, this could be the single most powerful idea we can share about successfully integrating new equipment- all three of these parties must work towards the same goal from the earliest stages.
Long-term planning between the client, machine supplier, and tooling supplier from the first stages of the project is the most important determining factor in the success of a new investment. The most sophisticated machine is only as effective as the tools it uses to cut. Even if the machine and tools work together perfectly, if what’s been purchased does not meet the long-term needs of the business, they could end up as a costly mistake. All three must work in concert.
What we’ve learned is that it all comes down to careful planning with every important party at the table- there’s no substitute for taking the time to plan properly. That’s why Rangate uses a 4-stage process to create success at each phase of a project.
“The amount of time a project takes does not vary by much between a planned or a rushed implementation. What does vary is the amount of time spent calmly and productively in the beginning versus the time spent scrambling later.”
- Rangate founder Greg Godbout
